Chapter 167: The affair with the arch-rival
Dylan had finally finished his plan with Rylee to expose Erica. He was ready to head back home and was waiting for Justin’s call. Once it was confirmed the jet was ready, he would fly back home. In just a matter of a few hours, he would be able to see Ava.
Dylan couldn’t wait to see her, to know how she felt about the gift he had prepared for her.
Meanwhile, the door clicked open, and Justin walked in, interrupting his thoughts. Dylan looked up at him, hoping to hear him say that the jet was ready. Every minute away from Ava was torturous. He had never felt this much restlessness and longing for her before. He just wanted to go back to her as soon as he could.
But the gloominess in Justin’s face made him frown. "What is the matter?" Dylan asked, his eagerness turning into concern. "Don’t tell me there is an issue with the jet."
"It’s not about the jet." Justin hesitated, his face shadowed by a mixture of discomfort and dread. "It’s about...Ava madam."
The air seemed to shift as Dylan’s heart clenched. Panic surged through him as dark scenarios flooded his mind. "What happened to her?" he demanded with urgency.
Justin opened his mouth but struggled to speak. Instead, he held out his phone. "Have a look."
Dylan snatched the phone from Justin’s hand. His eyes fell on the screen, where a photograph of Ava and Nicholas stood stark against the display. They were standing close, holding hands with each other.
Dylan’s pulse thundered in his ears as his grip on the phone tightened. "When was this taken?" he asked through gritted teeth, his gaze glued to the next image—a candid shot of them walking side by side, seemingly lost in their own world.
