Chapter 175
Panagsina Town Hall
Levi sat comfortably in his luxurious office chair, the dim light casting shadows across his sharp features as he listened intently to the report from one of his subordinates.
"Four mirror shards were stolen in one night," the subordinate reported, anxiety etched across his face.
Initially, Levi’s anger bubbled beneath the surface, but he quickly suppressed it. He leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers. Anger was a luxury he could not afford, especially when he had a skilled warlock by his side—Kino Jole.
Thanks to Kino who stood nervously before him. Kino was adept at his craft, and the lock of hair he had acquired from the attackers could serve as the key to tracking them down.
Kino fidgeted nervously, his hands twisting nervously as he awaited Levi’s response. "M-My apologies, my lord!" he blurted out, his voice shaky.
"It’s fine. Don’t overreact so much," Levi replied, his tone almost dismissive.
He had feared the attackers would prove problematic, but with Kino’s talent and the lead they had from the hair, there was a certain thrill in the hunt that lifted his spirits.
He had already dispatched his monsters to scout and verify the attackers’ numbers and location. As he reviewed the intelligence, he noted something unusual about them. "They’re young," he muttered, his voice low. "They seem... friendly. Children like that wouldn’t simply watch one of their friends die."
A trace of pity crossed his mind, but he quickly brushed it aside. To him, such emotions—loyalty, love, friendship—were mere weaknesses. They were burdens that would inevitably sow distrust and lead to failure.
"Bring all the mirror shards back here," he firmly commanded.
