Chapter 125
He left the hall, escaping the guards who tried to follow him. Before he chased after Remillia, he activated his earring—a magical piece that had cost him 500 million Glacium at the last auction he attended. The earring granted him invisibility, erasing any sound he made, allowing him to move like a shadow.
He had no idea where she had gone, but his instincts told him to head down. He needed to know where she’s going or if she’s the one causing the incidents.
As he made his way down the corridor, he kept his senses heightened, aware of every flicker of movement. But contrary to his expectations, Remillia suddenly appeared at the bottom of the stairs, her expression tense and focused.
"Sh!t!" He got surprised, almost colliding with her in his haste. Instinctively, he ducked behind a nearby wall just in time to avoid being seen. His heart raced as he pressed himself against the cool stone, straining to listen.
Peeking around the corner, he watched as she glanced over her shoulder, seemingly scanning the area before continuing on her way. He held his breath, anxious that she might have sensed him following her.
’This girl’s senses are scary.’
Though she was still adorned in the same elegant dress, she now wore a mask that concealed her entire face. She ascended the central staircase with unhurried, balanced steps.
He deliberately slowed down his steps then chased after her using the emergency staircase, his heart thumping loudly in his chest.
He followed her until they arrived at the rooftop, but he halted as he saw her facing the heavy steel door. He knew well that Velvet Grotto’s rooftop was restricted territory. Only staff could access this area for repairs and maintenance.
Eagerly, he moved closer, listening intently. He could hear the faint sound of her attempting to open it—click, clack. But the door did not budge.
Without the key, that door would remain solidly shut, and with strict security protocols preventing weapons from being brought into Velvet Grotto, Remillia couldn’t simply break the door with tools. Frustration began to build within him as he considered giving up spying on her, but just then, he heard her sigh and watch as she slipped something onto her finger.
