Chapter 110
After what felt like an eternity of awkward struggling, I finally managed to wriggle out from his iron grip. He had clung to me like his life depended on it, and for a brief moment, I thought I might never escape.
I had to time my movements just right, waiting until his arms loosened slightly, then slipping out as quickly as I could.
As I pulled myself free, I couldn’t help but glance back at his peaceful expression, feeling a strange mix of relief and embarrassment.
"Seriously, you’re supposed to be the protagonist, and yet here we are," I muttered under my breath. "How do you even manage to get yourself free in these situations?" I asked even though I know he can’t hear nor answer me.
Angela’s strained voice pulled me back to reality. "Remillia! I seriously need you here right now! Don’t make me go back there!" She was still busy dodging the monster’s vines, looking none too pleased.
"Macaron will be the one helping you out!" I called back, quickly regaining my focus. I mind linked Macaron to help Angela out, which he swooped down from above, his wings a blur as he zipped towards Angela.
"What a showoff," I muttered under my breathe, rolling my eyes as Macaron swooped down to help Angela. Apparently he heard that as his indignant squawk echoed in my head, <Hey, I heard that!> I smirked, choosing to ignore him and focus on the task at hand.
’Open system shop,’ in a flash I quickly scrolled through the system locating the items I needed: a high-grade shovel, a torch, and a blanket. I looked at the total and it cost me 12,999 PP points. I shoved my fist into my mouth to prevent myself from shouting while I tap confirm. I needed those points for future use!
I quickly slung Cypher’s arm into my shoulder as I carried him out of harm’s way then covered him with the blanket I bought. I glanced at Angela, who was still dodging and attacking the monster’s advances with surprising agility, and Macaron, who seemed to be enjoying the chase.
"I gotta work fast," I took a steady breathe and turned my attention back to the monster’s trunk, I quickly started digging down but the soil was tougher than I had anticipated, and each thrust of the shovel felt like a workout on its own.
"Ugh, who knew digging could this be intense?" I muttered, my muscles already aching. "Guess I’ll have to train more after this."
