I'm a Villainess, Can I Die?

Chapter 69

Lukas told me to step back for a moment, then casually shook out his hair. The strands that had been clinging to the ends fluttered down onto the cloth beneath him.

Once he had shaken off all the loose hairs, he stood up from the chair and tied his hair back with the ribbon wrapped around his wrist.

Something about that light green hair ribbon looked oddly familiar.

"There. It’s done."

Lukas turned to face me, speaking as if something had been accomplished.

What exactly was done? I tilted my head in confusion, but before I could ask, he rummaged through his coat and pulled something out—a dagger.

...A dagger?

Wait, was this what he meant by being done? Had he prepared everything to kill me? Had he somehow figured out that I’d briefly considered taking action against him with the scissors earlier?

As expected, a protagonist’s instincts were on another level.

I instinctively hunched my shoulders, thinking of Selina’s fate in the novel, and took a step back. A perfect defensive stance.

Lukas alternated glances between me and the dagger in his hand, then made an exasperated expression.

"I’m the vice-captain of the duke’s knight order and your personal escort. It’s only natural that I carry a dagger, even within the duchy, to be prepared for any situation."
