Chapter 504: Prediction
Jiang Cheng’s face shifted. Losing two fingers wasn’t an accident. Plus, the hospital’s reaction proved that something was suspicious.
“After the scolding, the person hung up. I was confused. I barely got a chance to get a word in. I wanted to call again, but I didn’t dare. I was afraid that the director might come back.” Even the nurse felt that something was wrong.
Jiang Cheng kept reading.
“June 5th. The attending doctor lectured me again. Even the director came to ask if I’ve been resting. I wanted to request a few days off. My head had been spinning. The words of Sister Ya’s father spun in my head.
“This should be a normal request, but the director rejected me. He encouraged me to keep going. I asked him how much longer I should go on for. He started to change the subject. He even promised to give me a raise.
“Sister Ya lost two fingers, but they… told me she suffered from intestinal inflammation. Why? Based on what I know, Sister Ya had been looking after Room 624. How did she lose her fingers?
“July 11th. Things are getting weirder. There is a special rule in Room 624. The doctors always come in a group to check on the patient in that room. Even routine rounds require multiple of them. I wanted to ask them why, but I couldn’t bring myself to. There is a voice telling me that there are certain things I shouldn’t be privy to.
“July 15. Today marks the end of the month I’ve been looking after Room 624. A weird feeling curls around my heart. I need to be careful. Yesterday, Mom went to the temple to ask for a fortune for me. It was extremely bad. Even though I don’t believe in these things, I should be careful. Hopefully, the fortune is not referring to Room 624… I’m so tired.”
Jiang Cheng grumbled internally. The fortune was quite accurate.
