A few days passed in the blink of an eye, and before anyone could catch their breath, the much-anticipated registration day arrived.
Gu Zi was up at the crack of dawn, diligently washing up and putting herself together with extra care. It was her first day reporting to university, and she was determined to make a stellar first impression.
Although Su Shen had promised to drive her, his car hadn’t yet arrived in the capital. The best-case scenario? They’d have to hail a cab from the roadside, or worse—cram onto a crowded public bus.
It was registration day after all, and if the streets were too packed to catch a ride, it would be a complete mess. So she made sure to be early.
Yet, to her surprise, just as she stepped out of the alley with all three children in tow—breakfast eaten and spirits high—there, parked elegantly at the end of the lane, was a sleek little sedan.
Su Shen strode over and, with an exaggerated gentlemanly flair, opened the door. "Miss Gu," he said with a teasing smile. "Your carriage awaits."
Gu Zi couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow as she ushered the kids into the car. "Don’t tell me you bought another car here? I distinctly remember you saying you’d have the old one shipped over."
Su Shen started the engine, steering them effortlessly onto the road. "Please, I still have a wife and three kids to feed. I wouldn’t dare splurge. This one’s rented—for a few days at least."
