Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!

Chapter 321 - 321: | 321 | The Great War Part 9: Southern Battlefield

The border between the southern continental region and the central continental region was a desolate wasteland enveloped by the trenches of warfare and destruction. Fortresses burned asunder as craters almost a kilometer deep riddled the earth.

It became a battlefront between the League of Humanity and the United World Government.

"BOOM!" "BOOM!"

The thunderous roars of explosions reverberated through the heavens and the earth. Strategic ships soared through the darkening skies, laying waste to the trenches below that spread as far as the eye could see. Artilleries and anti-aircraft batteries enveloped the fleet of strategic ships.

Yet they stood no chance against the thick shielding provided by the United World Government's barrier technology.

Alongside the trenches were hundreds of Mechs charging into the enemy defensive lines. It was a massacre of some sort, but the humans defending the trench network seemed to have lost their cowardice and continued fighting until the end.

"Continue to defend the wall that separates damnation from our homes!"

The imperial regiment commander roared, pointing his saber towards the Mechs in the frontlines. Tanks fired at the humanoid machines, almost breaking some of their shields. Some soldiers holding rocket launchers launched rockets towards the Mechs, taking down one in the process.

The situation in the battlefront wasn't heavily favored to the United World Government. Otherwise, they would have broken through the border and finally besieged the interior of the central continental region. Unfortunately, the League of Humanity was adapting fast.

Their technologies had long reached World War 1 Era. Some machines belonging to the Magus Tower even surpassed that, especially the Serpentine War Machine, Bahamut.

Although millions of lives have been wasted within the barren wasteland that lingered in between the central continental region and the southern continental region, the imperial soldiers retained their morale.

Many officers in the United World Government even wondered if the League of Humanity actually dared to delved into brainwashing. The fanaticism of the imperial army was too bright to ignore.

"Sir! Another section of the defensive line has been broken through. Reports about the United World Government roaming inside the central continental region are increasing!"

An imperial commissar reported to the imperial regiment commander who could only grit his teeth. Not every imperial regiment was as rigid and durable as his. It was only a matter of time until their defensive lines was broken through.

"What about the southern cities of Albion?" The central continental region was shrouded with empires belonging to the Sovereigns, the greatest of all mankind. Amongst these empires was Albion, the empire that resided in the south of the central continental region.

"Some had already fallen, Sir! The council is urging us to form another defensive line further north to halt the siege of the United World Government." The imperial commissar responded, wiping the cold sweat dripping from his forehead.

"Damn it!" The imperial regiment commander cursed and turned his gaze towards the battlefield. Withdrawing his forces now would result in the complete collapse of the defensive lines. They wouldn't even have the time to establish another one further north.

He pondered about what to do, not wanting to surrender to their troublesome ordeal. Yet no matter what he thought about, it was all for naught against the fleets of strategic ships above the battlefield.

The smell of gunpowder danced through the air as he clenched his fist. The imperial regiment commander glared at the imperial commissar and commanded. "The council has given their command. My imperial regiment will withdraw and establish a defensive line in the north."

His decision would bring forth the deaths of many imperial soldiers. Perhaps it would be hundreds of thousands of corpses that would weight upon him once he had given such an order. Regardless, however, the imperial regiment commander remained resolute.

"Understood, the command will be scattered throughout the regiment." The imperial commissar nodded in understanding, relaying the orders of the imperial regiment commander to the entire regiment.

It didn't take long for the imperial regiment to start the withdrawal operation. In mere moments, the defensive lines that had taken millions of lives to maintain was broken through by the Mechs and the strategic ships above.

The moment their imperial regiment retreated. Several defensive lines collapsed under the weight of the siege. It brought about chaos in the borders, prompting many imperial soldiers to start deserting from their ranks.

The anarchy of the withdrawal didn't go unnoticed by the strategic fleets. In the bridge of a strategic destroyer was an aloof captain, gazing downward onto the barren earth without a hint of emotion. The imperial soldiers were like ants, easily trampled.

"It appears that they have begun retreating. The skirmishes of our colleagues who manage to break through the battlefield was a success." He muttered under his breath as his personnel continued monitoring both the strategic destroyer and the battlefield below.

"Indeed, Captain... The Admiral has ordered for an advance. We mustn't let them establish another defensive line in the north. Resistance in the south must be broken through." An intelligence officer nodded in agreement, relaying the commands of the admiral.

"Understandable... After all, we have been somewhat late in the timetable given to us by the Citadel. The invasion in the southern part of the central continental region has been delayed for weeks." The captain shook his head, disappointed at himself for delaying the plans of the United World Government.

"The imperial regiments have been too derange, fighting until the last man. None of them even bother to sound their surrender. The hills of corpses scattered near the abandoned trench networks speaks of their madness."

"But their irrational morale does not matter. The United Military will break through whatever wall their conjure until we soar above their capitals and hear their surrenders." The captain of the strategic destroyer looked away from the barren battlefield.

"Prepare to advance! Do not let the withdrawing imperial regiments breathe for a moment." The captain ordered, prompting the personnel inside the bridge to start propelling the strategic destroyer onward.
