The day after Freri left, Shinji worked alone. He followed the plans as usual, but his earlier excitement was gone.
Still, his natural skill was enough to handle the tasks, and his results were better than those of other magic users. There was no real disruption to the work.
”This looks good.”
Shinji said, nodding at the finished work. Anyone would be satisfied with it. As he watched the workers start their tasks, he took out a potion, drank it quickly, and felt his magical power return. He thought about his next steps and noticed Coral in the distance. Their eyes met. Since it was almost noon, he guessed she was inviting him to lunch.
”Good work. I came to invite you for lunch. Is Freri-san not here?”
”Good work. Yes, she’s handling something else, so it’s just me for now. But don’t worry, the schedule won’t be affected.”
Coral’s way of speaking was different from when they were in the Dragonmen village. She couldn’t treat Shinji as a subordinate anymore. Now, they were equal allies serving under different houses. A noble with good sense wouldn’t disrespect others, even if they were commoners.
”I see. If you’d told me earlier, I could have adjusted the schedule.”
”Thank you. I appreciate your consideration.”
”Hehe, as the overall supervisor, it’s only natural.”
