Chapter 136

“Well that was definitely a chore.” Asami laughs. My head is bowed to the ground as I stand still in place. She thinks this is funny?
Hazel has been lurking around the house long enough to know we were in here and know something about Asami that I didn’t tell her. Plus her laptop was in here. Something I definitely did not bring into this place so the only explanation for that would be Asami doing the honours. I wonder if she knew when Hazel arrived yet didn’t say anything. My conclusion is pissing me off.
Asami knows how much I wanted to leave Hazel out of this, even if she wasn’t inclined to tell me when she noticed Hazel’s arrival, she should’ve stayed here with me in this room longer or at least shut up about whatever she blabbed about.
My fists begins to clench. I can feel the pain of my self inflicted cuts reignite and spread throughout my body as I deepen the wound but I don’t care. I need this pain to keep me level headed.
The sound of shoe soles scraping the floor along with broken glass pieces rings in my ears followed by the sound of heels clonking on the ground.
“She did last off being dumb way longer than I expected,” Asami says, her voice calm yet holding mockery. “I can’t even begin to-“
“You think this is funny?” I ask, cutting her short, calmness trailing off my tone. I am anything but calm. I’m pissed off by Asami’s display. I only stayed quiet because I wanted to know how far with her gibberish talk she was willing to go and because I wasn’t sure if Hazel wanted me to intervene.
Now I don’t even know if there’s much to go back to since I chose to stay quiet. Hazel’s mad at me. Her seething gaze as she stared at me with disgust revealed that to me and she told me not to go after her. Now I question my earlier decisions and don’t know if it is wise to still be standing here even after she’s gone but there are loose roots I need to tie. Loose roots like the one standing in front of me right now.
