Chapter 131
- KILLIAN -
It’s my least favourite day of the week. I groan as I stare at the coffee machine in my kitchen disperse coffee in my mug. Thursday, anyone would’ve guessed.
My typical meeting with Asami to have a discussion with S, her boss, more like a co-alliance, holds today. The thought is draining, but I try not to think too deep about it, or it would be the one thing cutting the thin thread stopping me from depression.
A warm, half grin forms on my face and I move my hand forward to the coffee machine. My fingers rest on the handle of my coffee mug. I can feel the heat oozing out on my skin without my fingers coming in contact with the mug body.
I pick up the jar of honey by the side of the coffee machine, which is in front of me, and scoop a teaspoon of honey into my cup. I cover the honey jar then stir my coffee gently with the teaspoon, dissolving the honey. I drop the tea spoon on the saucer just in front of me then raise my mug up to the lower part of my face. It scents good.
Early morning coffee is always the best. I blow air into the mug, preparing to take a sip.
A vibration catches my attention. I lower my gaze to the counter to look at my phone. It’s my alarm.
The time’s 8:30am. In an hour and a half, Asami will be here and we’ll begin. I can’t wait for this deal to be over. I need to get my hands on my parents’ murderer and do whatever the fuck S wants.
Then, I take a sip from my mug. It’s hot but not hot enough to burn my tongue. Black coffee is always my favourite. I clear my throat, I don’t want to divert from my initial thoughts.
