I’m clearing everything up. Carol left not long ago and it’s my duty to ensure the living room looks as though nobody ever came in. Although I’m well aware that if I leave it as it is, a maid will take care of it but I’d rather not do that. The guilt of my action will eat me up if I made someone’s life harder due to my laziness.
I don’t even know what’s creepier, the fact that I’ve never seen a servant since I stepped foot into this house or the fact that there are other people aside the two of us who creep within these walls that I am not aware of. I don’t even know the faces of anybody. Someone could murder me in my sleep and there would be no face to tag it on. I roll my eyes.
Yeah, like that’s ever going to happen. “Pfft.” I say out loud, stuffing nearly empty bowls in each other then placing them on a tray.
“Enjoy your day?” The sound of a masculine voice made me flinch and I quickly turn around. There’s obviously no other male present in this mansion other than him but how he snuck up on me without giving me the slightest clues till he spoke got me quivering with terror. I almost dropped the tray.
“Geez. Make your presence known next time, will ya?” I place a hand on my chest, my heart is beating hard, trying to calm down my nerves. “You almost gave me a heart attack, Killian.”
“My apologies. I’ll be sure to be more mindful.”
I hum a response, resuming what I was doing. He’s behind me and watching me closely, that much I can tell and my heart still pounds hard in my chest due to that. It never gets old. “Are you just gonna watch my ass or actually be handy?” I ask nicely with a raised brow. I don’t mean that, Killian shouldn’t be involved with this tidying process as he wasn’t involved in the messing up.
“Hm, let me give this a thought.” I hear his voice trail like he was actually considering my question. “I’ll pass, the view here is splendid. Marvellous even. Chef’s kiss.”
