Axel didn’t cry, but in his heart, he was sad. Sometimes he was envious of Evelyn Willow because her tears would just flow like turning on a tap.

At the time, Axel didn’t quite understand why boys couldn’t cry when they grew up. But later, he found out that the feeling of wanting to cry but not being able to was truly unbearable.
Compared to today’s forced bravery, the feelings were totally different.
After saying goodbye to Elena, there were less than five days left until the start of the school year. Axel had to focus his mind, stay at home, and adjust his daily routine. Luckily, Carolline had strict expectations for him during summer vacation, so he didn’t need a significant adjustment, just having to change his bedtime by half an hour.
Axel carefully stored all the gifts Elena had given him and even found a delicate little box to put them all in, which he then locked away in a drawer.
Whenever he missed Elena, he would take these items out to have a look at them. Each gift was a memory.
Besides, when he really missed her, he could always video call, so life without Elena by his side shouldn’t be too sad.
When Carolline came back from work in the evening, she had planned to comfort her darling son. However, Axel was drawing on some paper and seemed much better emotionally than he had been in the morning.
