That night, it was already nine in the evening, and a certain little guy sitting on the living room recliner still refused to go to the bathroom to take a bath. He was holding his cellphone, utterly engrossed.
Carolline Ruiz had been patient until 9:05 when she walked over to him. "Axel, do you know what time it is? Aren’t you going to take a bath?"
"Mom, Elena went to Kyoto and met a new little friend. The little boy seemed quite well-behaved," Axel said in a pleasing manner to Carolline and handed her the phone to show her.
"School starts in half a month, and you’ll be with Elena every day. As you grow up, you’ll meet more and more new friends. So, go say goodnight to Elena." Although it was summer vacation, it was essential to maintain a regular routine, or else the two months of indulgence would cause the child to struggle when starting the new term.
Tonight, Bryan Hawkins had a social engagement, Carolline was on vacation tomorrow, and it was just the two of them at home, along with Aunt Lu and Richard Ward.
"Alright, then." Axel said goodnight and turned off his phone before going to his room to find his pajamas. "Mom, when’s Dad coming back?"
"I don’t know, it’ll probably be a while." Carolline already knew about tonight’s social engagement. Bryan Hawkins originally wanted her to attend, but she couldn’t make the switch.
In the end, Bryan Hawkins went alone and said he would come back early, but it was impossible for him to return at this point.
After Axel had taken a bath, he went to bed early. Carolline adjusted the air conditioning for him and set a constant temperature before telling him stories. By the third story, Axel’s breathing had become even.
Carolline made sure his stomach and knees were covered by the blanket before she left the room.
