The two continued walking away, their voices fading, but still affectionate and intimate.
Back in the car, after hanging up the phone, Bryan Hawkins asked Carolline, "What happened? What did Mrs. Wang say that got you so mad?"
"It’s just some hospital stuff. Right, the medical mission to Africa has a connection with the Miller Family’s charity. It’s reasonable for Kyoto to dispatch outstanding doctors, but why did they have to pick G City?" With so many cities in the country, what qualifications did G City have to collaborate with Kyoto?
"Well, it wasn’t originally G City’s turn. I asked for a small favor. Mrs. Wang told me about Charlotte Clark’s behavior, and I got mad. So, I made her go away. I didn’t force her to go to Africa." The only outcome of not going would be to leave the medical field, and that was the consequence of angering him. He would make an example of her, not fearing what others would say.
Carolline was furious. This man actually admitted to it so brazenly! Before he confessed, she had never thought that he was behind it all. Now, she didn’t even know what to say.
"You haven’t exactly forced her to go to Africa. I heard that if she doesn’t go, she’ll have to resign. Can she still stand her ground after this? Charlotte is just a bit of a gossip, but I don’t think she’s that bad of a person." Carolline shook her head. She could just ignore Charlotte’s unpleasant words; there was no need for such revenge.
"She’s going there to prove herself. Are you saying that the opportunity I gave her to prove herself isn’t good?" Bryan retorted.
