Chapter 507: Causing a Stir in the Courtroom (2)
Charlotte Clark’s eyes darkened, and she quickly followed up, "Carolline Ruiz, are you still angry? You know that’s just the way I am, often speaking without thinking, I only mentioned it because I read about it online. I didn’t mean anything by those words."
As Charlotte explained, by the time she got home, most of those online posts had vanished. No matter how she searched for them, they were nowhere to be found. Charlotte then realized Bryan Hawkins’ capabilities. Surely, he must have had those posts removed, for how else could Carolline Ruiz have achieved this? Offending Ruiz wouldn’t be a big deal, but the power of the person backing her was indeed alarming.
After pondering over it for a day and a night, she decided to make up with Carolline Ruiz. Despite her unhappiness, she had to maintain amicable surface appearances.
Carolline Ruiz remained silent, her gaze shifting. She was aware of the rumors online. Charlotte, being the type who could spice up a story, was not someone she’d like to interact with much.
The more you interact with people like her, the more your life becomes fodder for their idle chatter. Carolline didn’t like such people. Why would strangers concern themselves with personal lives? It was clear they had too much time on their hands, chattering on about everything and nothing.
Unfortunately, there were plenty of people like that in society, gleefully discussing other people’s lives. But when their own lives took a turn, they’d become reclusive. If you were to ask about it, they’d instantly reveal their vicious side.
People like that could never have true friends.
"I see, you don’t need to explain to me, I’m not angry." It’s just that I don’t think it’s necessary to keep contact with you, was the unspoken sentiment. Carolline Ruiz hoped that Charlotte would understand this without it being said outright.
