In the past, she had regarded him as a doctor and leader, but now he could be a passerby, a former colleague, a neighbor, anyone, but he would never be an important and intimate person in her life.
"Alright, then I won’t bother you guys, get some rest. I’ll pick you up tomorrow?" There was so much he wanted to say tonight, so he hadn’t had the chance to tell her that they actually lived quite close and he could give her rides in the future.
"Okay, see you tomorrow. I’ll have breakfast ready and waiting for you." Avery Graham looked at Bernard Taylor, who had turned his face away, and said this on purpose.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow." This was an unexpected joy, one Kent Auclair hadn’t anticipated.
After hanging up the phone, Avery Graham watched as Marie turned her face back, but still looked unwilling to leave. She couldn’t help but speak up, "Dr. Taylor, if there’s nothing else, let’s leave it at that."
"You just invite him to come over for breakfast tomorrow, aren’t you afraid he’ll see something he shouldn’t?" Bernard Taylor snorted coldly, he wasn’t oblivious to how deliberate Avery Graham was being.
But this woman made him face the reality of her indifference towards him, which was genuine. He, Bernard Taylor, didn’t have a face that could bewitch any woman, at least Avery Graham had no interest in him.
And he had once mistakenly thought that Avery Graham was feigning it. There were women in the past who had pretended to be annoyed by him, but as soon as he opened up to them a little bit, they confessed their love to him.
So, he had once mistakenly thought that Avery Graham had the same intention. But she truly didn’t have any interest in him at all. And now, he felt a deep sense of loss.
