With what Jack Lopez said, he covered all aspects and made his point clear: it didn’t matter whether it worked out or not, it was up to the Hawkins Family to decide. If the Hawkins Family didn’t agree, they would owe the Lopez Family a favor.
This favor, if repaid with money, was of no interest to the Lopez Family as they weren’t short of money. So, since the debt was owed in terms of favor, it should be repaid with favor.
"Grandpa Lopez, I’m sorry, but please don’t pressure my grandparents anymore. My affairs are my own and no one else can decide for me." Bryan Cooper, who had been sitting there silently, suddenly spoke. He looked at Jack Lopez and the Lopez couple, who were staring at him after hearing Jack’s words. "Grandpa Lopez, there is one thing you are mistaken about. I do have a woman that I love."
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the Hawkins Family gasped. Did they think Bryan would expose Carolline Ruiz? That was what his grandmother was thinking.
"Oh, really? So, who’s the one you love, Bryan? I’ve never heard your grandpa mention her," Jack asked calmly, curious to see what kind of story Bryan would come up with, claiming to have someone he loved.
"The woman I love is named Phoebe Miller. She’s a member of the Bachelor Clan, and now, I’m going to follow her," Bryan said truthfully. Before meeting Matilda Ferguson, he had indeed been in a relationship with Phoebe. But just as he was preparing to propose to her, Phoebe told him that she would never get married in her life, even if it was to her lover.
"So, are you planning not to get married?" Jack asked, frowning at Bryan. This matter was far from trivial. Looking at the solemn expressions on the faces of the Hawkins Family, especially the grave look on the elder Mr. Hawkins, Jack knew they were in for trouble.
If the Lopez Family was wise, they wouldn’t get involved in this matter, nor could they.
