Five months later
Carolline’s belly had already protruded two months ago. It was then that Andy found out Carolline was pregnant. When he first found out, he was shocked. He hadn’t expected that during his absence, Carolline would fall in love and bear their love’s fruit.
However, no matter how he tried to get information, Carolline refused to reveal the father’s identity.
A month ago, Emily, unable to hold back her longing for her daughter, rushed to see her after finishing her work and the start of summer vacation. She stayed with Carolline for over a month until the school term began again.
Upon seeing Carolline’s round belly, Emily nearly fainted with anger and slapped her twice. The Village Chief and his wife tried to stop Emily from hurting her further.
"Dear sister, don’t be so rough with her. Andy said he will take responsibility. When they return, they will get married and even send us festive candies in advance," said the Village Chief’s wife, mainly concerned for Carolline. The slaps had left marks, making her face an alarming sight.
"..." Emily was bewildered. As a mother, she had her doubts if the child Carolline was carrying was truly Andy’s.
Andy hurried back from the clinic, originally intending to accompany Carolline when he heard Emily was coming. But, there were too many patients, and Gavin Campbell couldn’t handle them alone, so he had to let Carolline go first.
Despite rushing back, he was still too late, and Carolline suffered.
