Chapter 491 - 492: Tomorrow Will Be Better



Cherish Turner smiled and continued to walk forward. As they walked past each other, her voice carried through the air, making William Griffith stop in his tracks. "You’ve already done the thing that hurts me most," she said.

"Beep beep-" The sharp sound of her phone breaking through her troubled thoughts further entangled them.

William Griffith glanced at her retreating figure before taking out his phone to answer the call. On the other end, the butler urgently said, "Master, there’s trouble, Miss Hailey has had a car accident, her condition seems quite bad, she’s been taken to the hospital!"

Her figure was already hailing a cab and driving off. In a flash, it went past before his eyes and William Griffith hurriedly got into his car, issuing a firm command, "I’m on my way!"

The past seemed as fleeting as passing clouds and the roaring wind, Cherish Turner lowered the car window.

The agreement in her hand was crumpled beyond recognition. Her trembling hand tore it into pieces as if it was shredding her heart. Slowly she extended her hand, the torn pieces of the document flew out the window with the wind, scattering in the air, thrown behind her.

She shut herself in her apartment, not seeing anyone.

Her life was reduced to a puppet merely going through the motions, from the moment she opened her eyes to when she closed them.

"Thump, thump, thump--" Someone was knocking on the door. Cherish Turner curled up on the couch, unwilling to see who it was.

The phone rang again, but she didn’t pick it up.

Suddenly, a woman’s voice, full of curse words, exploded from outside the apartment, "Cherish Turner! You’ve got some nerve, not answering your sister’s call! I can hear your phone ringing from out here, so stop pretending you’re not home! Open the door! Who are you hiding from?"
