Chapter 2023: Rejecting Hong Ling (8)
"Okay." Hong Ping responded.
When Jiaojiao returned to the hotel lobby, the three girls, Yang Tao, Yang Xiaona, and Yu Rou, were sitting together chatting, while on the other side were Lu Zishu, Ruan Lei, Duan Xi, Yuan Xiaodong, and Qin Yue.
Seeing Jiaojiao come down, all eight people stood up.
Jiaojiao asked them, "Where are Brother Wei and Xiaojiu? Weren’t we supposed to go together?"
"Xiaojiu went to the bathroom. Ruan Wei’s been acting a bit strange lately; I just saw him sneak off like he was deliberately avoiding us." Lu Zishu replied.
"What is he up to, meeting a lover? I gotta go check it out." Yuan Xiaodong immediately showed extreme enthusiasm. Even though he was clearly a handsome guy with bright lips and teeth, whenever he spoke, it inexplicably felt somewhat sleazy.
Back in the day, to catch up with Jiaojiao and Duan Xi, Yuan Xiaodong also skipped grades but unfortunately didn’t manage. In the end, he was in the same class as Ruan Qun and just finished college entrance exams this year.
After hearing about their return, he reverted to his role as Duan Xi’s little brother, trailing after Duan Xi and calling him "Brother Xi" all day long.
"Probably not. Didn’t look like it. It was a little girl, not very old, with a beggar following behind." Lu Zishu mused, trying to recall.
What he said intrigued Jiaojiao and the others.
After waiting for Ruan Qun to come out of the restroom, the group left the hotel to find Ruan Wei. But as soon as they walked out the hotel entrance, they saw Ruan Wei coming out from the east side.
He obviously anticipated seeing the group as he stepped out and looked stunned for a moment, staring at them. Panic flickered in his eyes, as if he had been caught red-handed doing something he wanted to keep secret.
Jiaojiao found his demeanor odd and approached with curiosity. Ruan Wei nervously glanced behind him, saw no one following, and only then breathed a sigh of relief.
