Chapter 235: Uh-oh, This Smelled Trouble
Calix moved one chair away before pushing Leslie closer to the table. Old Madam Xu swiftly approached them after washing her hands. Her wrinkly face beamed with a delightful glow.
Old Madam Xu didn’t expect to see her grandson and grandaughter-in-law again this soon. They had just gathered for a family meal two nights ago.
Did they come here for something important?
Or, to just spend time with her?
Either way, Old Madam Xu was glad. She planned to stuff Leslie and Calix with delicious food during lunch. Of course, everything would be prepared by the chefs instead of her.
"Did you two enjoy your getaway yesterday?" asked Old Madam Xu, recalling Calix’s plan to bring Leslie out of the city, "Where did you go? You haven’t shared with us ah."
Old Madam Xu and Harper had been waiting for updates from Calix in their family chatroom. The two ladies were eager to know where and what the spouses did during the young man’s birthday.
Unfortunately, Calix didn’t tell them anything until now. Old Madam Xu and Harper wanted to pester him but, they ended up refraining themselves.
This should be the newlyweds’ first getaway together ah. They shouldn’t be disturbed.
Leslie and Calix exchange a glance, understanding that the news of them visiting the orphanage hadn’t reached Old Madam Xu.
Aside from the private nurses, Calix’s bodyguards, Aunt Wendy and Uncle Raymond, no one else knew about it. Seemed like the old lady didn’t try inquiring from Aunt Wendy at least.
