Win My Husband Over to Find My Child

Chapter 145: Have You Forgotten Who Your Husband Is?

Leslie had been waiting for Calix to arrive home after their previous phone call. She woke up twice but, there was no sight of him until now. Seeing him stirred joy and relief within her.

Finally, he was back.

"Calix... I’m sorry..." Leslie locked her eyes onto Calix’s, finding how blurry her eyesight was, "I didn’t... expect that... I’d... just vanished... like that..."

Her throat was damaged quite badly but, Leslie wished to relay her apology to Calix as soon as she could. Even without him telling her about it, she could imagine how anxious he was after she abruptly disappeared without traces.

Calix loosened his grasp on Leslie’s hand. Letting out a chuckle, he jokingly said, "You know what? I think your stunt took ten years off my life."

Leslie simply smiled. She would hurt her throat more if she laughed. Slowly blinking her eyes a few times, the images she saw still lack clarity.

"Your face... and everything... are blurry," Leslie closed her eyes, unable to endure the strain longer, "...is this... one of the... side effects?"

Calix unconsciously tensed, realizing what Leslie meant by that. Without thinking, he lifted his other hand before carefully placing his palm over her closed eyes. Her lashes gently brushed against his skin.

"Yes, it’s one of the side effects," replied Calix, changing Leslie’s question to a statement, "I was like that before too. Your eyes are sensitive... after being unconscious for so long. Don’t push yourself to see... or do anything if you can’t stand it."

The early stages of recovery after emerging from a coma were hard. Calix had gone through the difficulty before. At times, he almost gave up due to the excruciating pain caused by the rehabilitation sessions.

"How... can I... not do... it? The rehab... will be painful... isn’t it?"
