Chapter 61: Brother-in-law, Do You Really Love My Sister?
"You should be thankful ah. You have this Young Master Xu sending you to school this morning. Aren’t you grateful?"
Calix glanced at Irene who sat on the front passenger seat. The girl burst out laughing in glee. The merry echoes resonated in the car.
"Hehe, thank you, Brother-in-law. I’ll surely boast to my friends."
Rowan and Bianca were not the only ones shocked when Calix said he would send Irene to school. Old Madam Li and Deena also were not exempted. Their jaws almost rolled to the floor.
"C-Calix... are you sure? You don’t have to trouble yourself, you know."
"It’s fine, Father. Now, Irene is my little sister too. I’m sure Charlene wants me to have a good relationship with her."
Calix smoothly eased Rowan’s doubts. He promised to drive Irene safely to school. Under his persuasion, Rowan and Bianca finally agreed. Shortly after, the high school girl found her way inside the former’s car.
Leslie quietly looked at Calix and Irene from the backseat. She wondered if Charlene’s younger sister had something to say to her new brother-in-law.
’This should be her first time talking to Calix, isn’t it?’
Irene was generally a quiet girl. Because of her sickness, she used to miss more than half of the school year, leading Irene to not have many friends from elementary to middle school.
Irene had just entered the first year of high school at Blossom Jade High this year. It was a private high school near Jadeite Peak, mostly attended by the children of the wealthy.
