The next morning, Arthur scrolled through his phone, his eyes skimming the screen until they froze on something that made his breath hitch.
A moment of stunned silence stretched before the door to his office swung open.
His secretary strode in, his expression mirroring the same realization that had just shaken Arthur.
"Good day, sir. I assume you’ve seen what’s circulating online. We’re doing everything we can to take down the news," the secretary informed him, his tone edged with urgency.
At that particular moment, he felt a greater fear about what actions his boss might take due to what he had witnessed, which was circulating rapidly across the internet.
Arthur, however, barely reacted. Without looking up, he lifted a hand, silencing him before he could continue.
"Let it be," he said, his voice unnervingly calm.
It wasn’t the response his secretary had expected.
The news—whatever it was—had the power to sway the company’s sales, stir the market, and send the board into chaos. Yet, Arthur seemed utterly unbothered.
Unlike him, others wouldn’t take it so lightly.
"Sir, the board has called for an emergency meeting this morning," the secretary added, his gaze flicking to his device as he scrolled, perhaps rereading the very same headline that had shaken Arthur just moments ago.
