Chapter 208: The new head of the family
"Such a good boy. No wonder my granddaughter has eyes for you only. Come sit beside Pulan. From now on, you no longer have to stand behind her or anyone. You are allowed to manage and participate in any business activity of this family. No one has the rights to say or obstruct you, understand, boy?" Grandpa Qiao took ShenJi’s muscular hands in his wrinkled old ones.
Qiao Tong sneered in her heart. Grandpa was only saying these words to appease them. There is no way Qiao Minde would agree to it. Everyone knows how Qiao Minde hates Qiao ShenJi.
Qiao ShenJi nodded and opened his mouth but Qiao Deng, son of Grandpa Qiao’s first son, interrupted rudely. "Grandpa, do you know what are you saying? Have you gone mad?"
But Grandpa merely turned to his first son and said, "You need to teach your son some manners,"
"Sit back down, Deng’er. This is no place for you to argue," Eldest Master Qiao said sternly and Qiao Deng immediately sat back down because his father’s eyes looked like they could murder him right on spot.
"Father, I think Deng’er has a point," Qiao Tan, the second son of Grandpa Qiao spoke up. "It doesn’t makes sense. ShenJi is an outsider. According to our family rules, he is not allowed to manage any business under the name of Qiao," Qiao Tan, Pulan’s second uncle was the more sensible one in the family.
He wasn’t hot-blooded nor arrogant. But he wasn’t kind or a nice person either. He, too despised and supported his children Pulan and Qiao ShenJi. Then he would pretend that he didn’t see and was innocent.
"Times have changed. We need to move forward instead of staying with those ridiculous old rules," the old man answered.
"Sit down brother and let’s hear what father has to say," Eldest Master Qiao spoke up.
