Chapter 320: About Our Relationship
The luxurious room did not surprise me and neither did the spectacular food options that were present. Thankfully, the food wasn’t much different to the food served in the palace because that meant that I knew quite well what was being served.
At first everything seemed normal as I took my seat next to the prince at the dining table. Apart from us, many government officials that had joined us on the trip were also present at the dining table along with a handful of people that represented the host country. Frankly, I did not recognize most of the people and had no idea what their roles were. Regardless of not knowing precisely who they were, I could feel their eyes on me.
It did cross my mind that they were staring at Prince Leonard who was seated next to me; however, as time went on, I was certain that I had become the center of their attention. The way they looked at me made me feel uneasy. Suddenly a man dressed in a formal suit approached us.
“Your Highness, if I may have a word...” the man said to the prince before bowing politely.
I did not recognize who he was, but I knew that he was one of the officials that had traveled on this trip with us. The prince glanced over at me before he smiled and patted the back of my hand. I returned his smile to tell him that I was fine if he had to leave for a moment. Our silent exchange was quickly over, and I watched as Prince Leonard got up from his seat before following the man out of the dining room.
Without a doubt the man had something important to discuss with the prince. Although I signaled to the prince that I would be fine that was quite far from the truth. Now that the prince was no longer by my side, it felt like I had lost a valuable shield. Their stares felt more direct and intimidating. I tried my best to ignore them as I tried to focus on the food on my plate.
“Lady Mila...”
I was forced to look up when I heard a woman calling my name softly close to my side. A woman who didn’t appear to be much older than I was smiled at me as she stood close to my seat. I didn’t recognize who she was, and I believed that I may have never met her before.
“Hello...” I replied before showing her a smile that I hoped looked passable.
At her sudden appearance, the person seated next to me quickly offered her his seat with the excuse that he needed to visit the toilet. I watched as she graciously accepted his offer before seating herself down in the seat next to mine.
“It’s an honor to meet you. I’m Lucinda and I work for the royal family here,” she introduced herself smoothly.
“I’m Mila...” I introduced myself in short although she already knew my name.
