Chapter 73: Failed Plans
**A few hours later**
The prime minister turned up to his daughter’s palace to have dinner with her while expecting to receive great news. It was the day after the night of the full moon, and he deemed it the perfect time to visit his only daughter. Political tension had escalated again, and his term as prime minister ended in less than six months. Although a democratic system governed this country, it was partially just for show. The real power remained with the king and the royal family, which everyone favored and loved. What that ultimately meant for politicians in this country was that the one favored by the king would be elected and reelected. It was just that simple.
“Where is Regina?” he asked the maid who greeted him at the door.
“She’s waiting for you in the dining room, Sir. Please head this way...” the maid said humbly before showing him the way.
After making his way into the dining room, he took his seat at the table opposite his daughter. He then waved all the servants away with a dismissive hand. Once alone in the room together, Lord Baldirius finally spoke to his daughter.
“Did things go as planned last night?” he asked without beating around the bush.
Regina secretly bit her lower lip as she hesitated to tell her father the news. Undoubtedly, he would be disappointed. She would be lucky if that were all.
“I am sorry...but I failed...” she admitted in a weak whisper.
The prime minister went silent as his eyes widened slightly at her unexpected words.
