Alpha Damon's Greatest Regret

Chapter 95- Home With My Son

Zarah’s pov

Jace didn’t answer right down. His smile had faded, replaced by something unreadable. That only made my heart pound harder. I was about to push him for an answer when my phone buzzed in my hand.

I glanced at the screen. ** Elliot. **

My stomach twisted.

My son.

Guilt picked at me, clawing at my insides. I had been so caught up in the truth about Damon that I’d lost track of time. Lost track of what really important. My thoughts had been clouded, consumed by questions I was not sure I even wanted the answers to. But now, I had to go. My son was all alone at home.

" I’ve got to go, " I muttered, sliding out of the seat before Jace could say another word.

" Zarah, " he called after me, his voice low, serious. " Be careful what you ask for. "

I didn’t stop. I didn’t look back.

I wasn’t sure if it was fear or truthfulness burning inside me. The raw, jagged edge of both feelings hammered in my chest, but one thing was clear — I wasn’t ready for whatever answer Jace had for me. Not yet.

By the time I got home, the night had settled in. It was late. The small apartment I had made a home for Elliot and I was dimly lit.
