Chapter 72- Luther Gaines
AUTHORS POV~
The gentle clicks of his shoes sounded as he walked through the empty halls, his grey glare looking through the glass of every door he passed. The whole building was insanely quiet at night with the only people around being security or men who hated their homes, the emptiness and quiet soothed him, when there was nothing, everything seemed to make sense to him.
It didn’t take long for him to find the office he had been looking for, the door was open and the bright light that illuminated the inside blessed a small part of the hall with its bright glow. He walked to the door and looked into it, Gabriel Gaines sat behind a desk, his eyes fixed on a small frame he held in his strong veiny hands.
"Father." He called, Gabriel took his eyes off the frame and looked at the man who stood at his door.
"Luther." Gabriel greeted with a small smile on his lips, he put down the frame and leaned back in his leather chair, as he looked upon the son he had not seen in years he felt a feeling of relief.
"I’m home Father." Luther said as he walked into the office and took one of the vacant seats in front of Gabriel’s desk.
"Took you long enough." He responded calmly as he reached under his table and pulled out an unopened bottle of scotch "I’ve waited for you to come back to share this with you." Gabriel said, pure joy evident in the tone he spoke and the look in his eyes, a sharp smile curved Luther’s lips.
"Mother’s last gift." He spoke softly as he stood up and carried two glasses from the wooden shelf that occupied one corner of the office "It is an event worth celebrating." Luther chuckled as Gabriel poured the drink into the cup, they both watched as the dark liquid filled the small glass.
"So, tell me about your travels."
