The atmosphere was relatively calm, considering there was an exam today, so I filled up a plate before heading to the kitchen to eat in silence.
I could have sat with Liam and Zeke’s group or even Charlotte and Scarlett’s squadron, but there was nothing to be gained there.
Leaning against the counter, I dug into the scrambled eggs and bacon, gazing out the window, I had jumped out not even a week ago.
It was far easier to be alone, at least in my mind.
When talking with Mira, Evangel, or the others, I’d always have to worry about keeping my disguise on or secrets hidden.
This was how it should be.
By limiting my social interactions to small hallway conversations during the day, I kept everyone at arm’s length, not letting anyone get too close.
Perhaps, if I had transmigrated as some unknown background character instead of the demon king, things could have been different, but there was no point in wondering about "what ifs."
After placing the empty plate in the sink, I walked toward the dorm’s exit, scanning the common room one last time as I passed.
Mira could be seen sitting with a small group of background characters, who I believed were named Angela and Bianca, while Xero had joined Liam and Zeke.
When I returned from class on Tuesday, my door had been replaced, which confused me greatly and prevented me from taking any action against the culprits.
