Chapter 88 – A Road Without Mercy
With a light motion, I rose from the bed and stepped out of the room. My stride was steady and unwavering. My black gown fluttered lightly each time my feet touched the cold stone floor of the corridor. My gaze was fixed forward, sweeping through each room I passed without pause.
Velthya, who was sitting at the dining table, immediately noticed the change in me. Her hand, which had been about to bring a piece of bread to her mouth, froze in mid-air, and her eyes locked onto me.
"Good morning..." she said cautiously, though her voice carried a note of wariness.
I didn’t answer. I simply sat in the empty chair across from her and began to eat the breakfast that had already been served. Silently. My focus wasn’t on the food but on the thoughts spinning relentlessly in my head.
After we finished eating in a silence that felt suffocating, I looked at Velthya. "I’m going," I said softly but firmly.
Velthya immediately straightened up. "Where? The world isn’t safe yet. Is this about—"
"I won’t answer," I cut her off curtly. "Because if I do... you’ll try to stop me. And I don’t want to kill you."
Velthya’s face tightened. "What are you going to do, Sylvia?" she asked softly, almost a whisper.
I rose from my seat, standing gracefully but coldly. "I’m going to create chaos. Because only through chaos... can a path be opened."
Without waiting for a reply or her consent, I walked out of the house. Behind me, following with calm steps, was the guild receptionist now a powerful werewolf zombie completely obedient to me.
The morning sky was still clear, but my heart was like a storm about to erupt. My goal was clear. I had learned the location of the Guild Master’s home from the zombie receptionist. And today, he would be mine.
