Chapter 87 – A Quiet and Troubled Night
That night, Sylvia fell asleep with an unease she couldn’t shake from her mind. The luxurious and warm room in Velthya’s residence should have made anyone feel safe and comfortable. But her thoughts kept drifting to another world a place where someone important to her was struggling alone amidst chaos.
Meanwhile, in that other world still wrapped in night, the atmosphere at Sofia’s base was no less tense.
"Have you checked all the places he usually goes?" Sofia asked, her voice tired but still full of resolve. Her usually neat hair was slightly messy, and her face showed a worry she couldn’t hide.
Altair, standing beside her, nodded with a serious expression. "Of course. We searched the lab, the reagent storage, even the observation room. But he’s nowhere to be found."
Sofia rubbed her temples. The day had been too much. Since morning, they had faced increasingly bold and organized rebel attacks. And now, close to midnight, another piece of bad news arrived Viktor, their brilliant scientist, had disappeared.
"Yuki, Yuna, Rani, Vivi..." she called softly, and the four girls quickly approached. They all looked exhausted, yet alert.
"Did any of you see Viktor today?" Sofia asked again.
Yuna raised her hand. "I saw him earlier this afternoon. He returned to the lab as usual."
Altair nodded. "I also checked his lab, but he wasn’t there. Strangely, all his things were in place. No signs of a struggle or damage."
