Chapter 124: You’re a Good Fighter
"Be careful, lad! Thank you for the chicken!"
"See you this weekend, Uncle David. Enjoy your dinner."
Ruediger waved at the cheery Uncle David. The elderly man stood on his porch, watching him leave the cottage where he lived alone after the death of his beloved wife.
Ruediger dropped by Uncle David’s residence today with a pack of roasted chicken and some bread. School ended earlier than usual thus, he decided to visit the elderly man.
The private school Ruediger and Madeline attended was in the middle of Felicia’s townhouse and Uncle David’s home. He took a bus to reach the old man’s neighborhood.
Ruediger still remembered how he started befriending Uncle David. Since then, they had gone fishing together on the old man’s boat. The latter also taught him various practical skills.
Never once did he imagine to be closer to the elderly man yet, he regretted nothing.
’What should I do tonight, huh? I don’t feel like studying.’
Putting both hands into the pockets of his pants, Ruediger stared at his sneakers as he walked toward the main street. Her shouldered a black bag on his back, holding his school items.
The early spring sun was warm, showering on Ruediger’s figure. The chilly breeze caught the short strands of his crimson locks, swaying his bangs gently over his clear forehead.
Uncle David lived in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Most of the houses here were quite old. Ruediger heard from the former that the majority of its residents were elderly people like him.
