Chapter 72
Valencia placed her glass down and leaned on the table, her smile turning sly. "Karl, mental powers like telekinesis are often influenced by emotions. And... let’s be honest here, you’re a guy who’s easily... excited. I’m not taking the risk of having you make everything in this campervan float when you’re too... enthusiastic."
Karl gaped. "What do you mean by excited? I won’t... I mean, I can control myself!"
Layla suppressed a laugh, though she tried to hide it by pretending to tie her hair.
Valencia approached Karl, patting his shoulder with a mischievous smile. "Oh, I don’t doubt that. But the fact that we all know you have ’focus issues’ makes me think you’d better sleep outside tonight."
Karl sighed deeply, his eyes glancing at Layla, who was now laughing hysterically. "You’re really enjoying this, aren’t you?" he said, annoyed.
Layla shrugged. "Just entertained. Don’t be so sensitive, Karl!"
Karl snorted, grabbing a blanket from the chair and reluctantly walking to the door. Before stepping outside, he glanced at Valencia. "If I get attacked by Homo Obscura or wolves, it’s on you."
Valencia smiled triumphantly. "You’ll be fine. If not, at least we won’t have to deal with uncontrollable telekinetic issues."

Outside the Campervan
Karl set up a makeshift bed under a tree, not far from the campervan. The cold night air pierced his skin even though he wrapped himself in a blanket. He looked up at the star-filled sky, trying to calm his mind.
