The Greatest Mecha

Chapter 18: Old Friends, New Faces

A little time had passed since the end of the test and Amy had been announced as the winner, after recieving care from the medical bay she let herself back in the direction of the officer's office to be briefed on her performance.

She walked a bit hastily wanting nothing more than to know how well she performed. But that was not the entirety of why she was in a bit of a haste, another reason why she was in a haste was because she was still concerned about what happened earlier.

During the fight, she has blanked out momentarily causing her to lose control of herself, she did not believe it was possible till it happened. In the state that she lost herself she could remember something, it was like her instinct took over but she had no way to control it.

Now that she thought about it more clearly it felt like she did not want to control it, it was a rage she had thought she had left behind. Memories of her childhood from before her time in the orphanage started to flash in her mind. She winced her eyes to quench the images from resurfacing again, images she wanted nothing to do with anymore.

A few seconds passed before she walked into someone, she had been in too much of a haste to notice the person coming ahead. The sound of books falling to the ground alerted her to the idea that she had bumped into someone carrying books, but who on earth carried books in the military division.

The person she has bumped into bent down to pick the books while saying. "Oh sorry, my bad. I wasn't looking where I was going." It was a young male but she could not see him clearly since her glasses had also fallen to the ground on the impact causing her vision to become hazy.

The boy before her seemed to be around her age if she was to guess. He had been heading to the mech engineering department to return some books he had borrowed recently, he had a meeting with the professor, she had called him for a test out of the blue and he had so many book in front of him to see where he was going.

Strangely enough the young woman before him did not acknowledge him, she said nothing. She did not even bother to lend him a hand but he did not pay it any mind. For the past three years he had been under Professor Einstein no one seems to care about any of her disciples who aspired to be mech designers or as they liked to put it, "glorified budget wasters".

After he had packed up all his books in a hasty manner he noticed the young woman still standing there, he did not have time to address her. It was then he noticed her glasses on the ground, he lifted the books and her glasses which he handed to her. "I'm entirely sorry."

After apologising and identifying her to be a mech pilot trainee he knew his place and avoided her. He went his way and waved her goodbye.
