It wasn’t that Mr. Fang and the other people in the corridor were heartless, but helping such a person would only be courting future disaster.
So, it was better to leave her situation to fate. If she, by chance didn’t get infected, then that was her good luck, if she got infected and died, no one would feel sorry for her.

As Fang Yao opened his eyes, he saw his father’s face that seemed to have aged by ten years in the last month and half and tears welled up in his eyes.
He had always known that his father was the only person who loved him unconditionally in this world. His mother only saw him as any other child she had, as if he was picked up from an orphanage.
But his father’s love reassured him. His brother was the same as his mother. When they were younger, he and his brother had a good relationship. But as they grew older and started to understand the world, seeing his mother’s open bias and favouritism, the two grew apart.
That was because his brother started to treat him like his little servant or dog. He even went as far as placing the blame in him when he made mistakes and his mother would punish him without mercy.
Even when he told the truth to his mother and there was clear evidence that it was his older brother who made the mistake, his mother would turn a blind eye and still punish him.
He had once asked his brother why he did that, and the answer broke his young heart.
