Chapter 243: The Collapse of the Tower
Shen Jinci crouched down, cajoling her gently, "What’s the matter? Are you scared to be alone?"
Bian Yue did not answer, but only looked at him as her tears flowed more fiercely.
Shen Jinci’s eyes darkened slightly, and when he spoke again, he did not forget to wipe the tears from her face, speaking ever so patiently, "Don’t worry, I won’t leave for too long. I’m just going to get Yueyue a glass of water and I’ll be right back."
Bian Yue closed her eyes, still clutching his clothes and refusing to let go. Her voice was hoarse as she said, "Shen Jinci, I saw everything just now. The wound on your chest, I saw it all."
Bian Yue could clearly feel Shen Jinci’s movement of wiping her tears pause.
He was silent for a moment, his smile deepening, his voice becoming even more tender, "It’s nothing, just a minor wound."
"How can you call this a minor wound? You were injured in S State, and it’s such a serious wound. Do you know how I felt when I saw it just now?" Bian Yue frowned at Shen Jinci, her voice choking up, "Shen Jinci, can you please take your life seriously? You’re hurt, why didn’t you tell me?"
"Because I was afraid you’d be like this now, crying over me." Shen Jinci sighed softly, embracing Bian Yue in his arms and gently patting her back. With affection in his voice, he whispered, "I’m sorry... I know I’ve made you worry. But aren’t I all right in front of you now? These wounds are nothing, right?"
"I’m scared... Shen Jinci, I’m really scared. I can’t accept someone dying before my eyes anymore, I really can’t handle it." Her voice trembled more tightly as she reached the end.
Shen Jinci held her even tighter, feeling her shattering in his arms, which made the pain from his wound seem even more intense.
All he could do was to keep repeating in an apologetic voice, "I’m sorry, it won’t happen again."
Bian Yue blinked her eyes as tears blurred her vision; the hand pinching the hem of his clothes felt ice cold.
