Chapter 229: The Balance

It hurts like hell, all the wounds I sustained by trying to fight off that Manticore, even the previous ones were yet to heal. Even though we were enhanced humans we still get hurt and die, the truth is there was not much difference.
I growled holding my side where the Manticore clawed me, there were several on my body and I was bleeding out so much, my entire seat was soaked in it, my features holding beads of sweat and my consciousness was slipping, it took every bit of potency I had to keep my eyes open and on the road, having an accident right now wasn’t something I would want, I had to get home and tend to myself. I have to hold on.
Rather than focus on my drowning pain, I couldn’t take the picture of Emma’s unconscious face out of my head like it was imprinted there. I was worried and scared for her.
I let Owen take her because there wasn’t much I could do in this state, I just silently prayed she was okay, I really hoped... but that didn’t ease my worry. I left as soon as the authorities came, it was risky for anyone to see me, so I drove out before I would be seen, they would have questions, and finding out some witches are here I’m certain they would be involved, my dad told me to lay low, but I wasn’t so sure I could much longer, not only did Emma know of my existence but that other two too.
I spotted my house and that was when it kicked in my frenzy pain, and then my Truck hit a tree. I growled holding my side that kept pumping out blood, if it wasn’t for Emma I would die fighting that Manticore, she saved me, she saved all of us. That’s why I can’t die here not until I see her again.
I forced the door of my car open and I was out but the moment I was on my feet I dropped to the ground. I couldn’t move any longer, holding on to my unconscious as long as I could... took a toll on me and my body was giving up.
"Emma" her face still flashed in my brain as darkness took me.
"GRAYSON!"
