I felt a hot chill run through me, followed by a gulp.

I opened my eyes.
"...wonderful intoxicating scent, I have been asking myself the same question" he shook his head like he was in a battle with himself. "I tried to focus on the hate, but when I’m with you... I can’t" he emphasized the word ’I can’t’ strongly and I felt some sort of warmth flush my insides.
