Chapter 317: Annoyed with the situation
VALENCIA’S POV
I knew what Aurora was trying to tell me. As much as this story differed from mine, it was strangely similar.
She didn’t tell me this story out of the blue because she was bored and wanted to calm me. Instead, this story was supposed to be a warning.
When I was in the forest to meet Aiden and found out about the skinwalkers, I had taken that split decision to deal with the issue myself because I was afraid the skinwalkers would go and harm the public.
In honesty, those skinwalkers were probably never going to harm anyone else. They were there for me. And while wanting to fight them, I had accidentally allowed my body to feel that immeasurable power, which was the starting point of my destruction.
Drawn to the power that skinwalkers radiate, I even forgot why I had decided to ban myself from any kind of blood and flesh, even when I was a werewolf, which was our prime source of nutrition and power.
Apart from Maverick’s blood, I hardly allowed myself to drink any blood, but in that moment, I lost control, and things turned out severe.
Now that I heard the story, I couldn’t even imagine how hard it must’ve been for Aurora to control herself and stop my transformation.
She was trying to tell me that I can’t always be good to everyone. There will be times when I must choose my safety, too. The day before yesterday was probably that kind of day. I should’ve chosen the soldiers to deal with those skinwalkers.
It also meant that I could’ve lost my life. I can’t even wonder how helpless Maverick must’ve felt in that moment when he tried to help me.
My wishfulness put everything at risk, including all their preparations.
