"You want to know how I chased Karen, don’t you?"
Zeke nods, still unable to believe he’s actually asking Andrew for advice.
"Alright then, I’ll tell you how I won my wife over," Andrew says, suddenly sounding serious.
"I met Karen at a bookstore. Super cliche and romantic, right? It was love at first sight." Andrew’s face softens as he recalls the memory.
"Love at first sight? So you fell for her looks, huh?" Zeke asks, his tone laced with judgment.
Andrew clears his throat. He can’t lie. Yes, he did fall at first sight, when he saw Karen tuck her hair behind her ear while reading. For some reason, that small gesture hit him hard. In her white dress and long blonde hair, she looked like a fallen angel. Pure. Timeless.
"You’re right. I’m not proud of it, but it’s the truth. Our eyes see them first. Then the heart follows."
Zeke scoffs.
"Hey, don’t make me sound like a jerk. Most people are like me. Man or woman, if it’s not looks, it’s income. Everyone likes looking at beautiful things. Only a few people actually see beyond that. No one wants to fall in love from scratch these days. You’re a CEO. You should know that better than anyone."
"I do. Just get to the point. What did you do after you saw her?"
"I walked up to her. Told her I had the same copy of the book she was reading."
"I didn’t know you had that kind of confidence. I thought you were the type who’d write anonymous love letters and never send them."
