Chapter 108: How to Win Her Heart
After signing the proposal for additional funding on the new laboratory project, Zeke pressed the intercom.
"Andrew. Come to my office."
Tok. Tok. Tok.
"Come in," Zeke said, his deep baritone voice calm but firm.
Andrew entered a moment later, his steps light. "Do you need something, sir?"
Zeke didn’t answer right away. He tapped his pen lightly against the desk, eyes fixed on Andrew, more thoughtful than commanding.
Andrew squinted. "Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked, not with the usual secretary’s tone but with casual familiarity as he walked closer.
Zeke stopped tapping and began spinning the pen between his fingers.
"How long have you and Karen been married?"
Andrew raised an eyebrow. "A little over three years," he answered, puzzled but used to Zeke’s abrupt switches.
Zeke gave a small nod, then hesitated. He set the pen down, stood from his chair, and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows that framed the city skyline.
"How did you win her over?" he asked, still facing the glass, his back to Andrew.
