Did That Doctor Successfully Remarry Today?

Chapter 106 - 105: Jiang An Collapses

Chapter 105: Jiang An’s Breakdown

On Thursday, Jiang An stayed on duty at the hospital.

The girl in a white coat made her rounds in the general ward. One of her patients had been in poor condition since morning, and several attending physicians had already consulted on the case during the day, tentatively scheduling surgery for the following afternoon.

The location of the tumor in the elderly patient’s brain was particularly tricky, keeping a team of doctors extremely busy. Jiang An watched in the ward as the old lady, a mere shadow of her former self, was wracked with pain. Already frail with age, she now had to endure this illness, her face ashen as she lay in bed.

Jiang An heard a couple of young nurses discussing the old woman’s condition in the rest area. It made her think of the heated argument she had overheard in the office earlier, where Dr. Li and the others were red in the face, disputing over the surgery.

No choice—due to the tumor’s peculiar location, a hasty operation could likely cause severe consequences by stimulating the patient’s brain.

Faced with such a difficult case, it was natural for anyone to feel disheartened. As an assistant physician, all Jiang An could do was help Dr. Li to successfully perform the surgery.

The night outside had deepened, and a sudden snowfall had descended upon the world. The temperature plummeted during the night. After finishing her tasks, Jiang An returned to her office. Snowflakes clung to the window, forming crisp frost patterns. Warming her hands with a cup of hot water, her eyes gazed out the window.

Winters in Jing City were much colder than in the South. She still remembered her childhood in a city where spring seemed everlasting, where she had lived with her mother and where snow was never seen – until her father passed away, and she witnessed her first northern snowfall when her mother brought her to Jing City.

Just as she was about to doze off at her desk, a nurse burst in, shattering the silence, "Dr. Jiang, the patient is crashing!"

Jiang An was dozing moments before, but at the call, she immediately stood up from her chair and rushed to the resuscitation room alongside the nurse, instructing the younger nurse to notify Dr. Bai, who was on duty that night.
