Chapter 53 - 52 Dr. Gao Wants to Kiss Her
I really want to grab your hand, flee to the freshly cleared skies and fields, without shrinking back or looking back. — Shu Ting "Farewell in Rain"
Inside the study, which wasn’t too cramped, the air was peculiarly quiet, the afternoon’s golden rays poured through the lattice windows and spread luxuriously across the grey-brown floor. The weak light fell upon the man’s beautiful brows and eyes, his expression still one of disinterest, yet Anan was about to be set ablaze by that stark, naked gaze.
Her heart seemed to have completely spiraled out of control, Anan was forced to lean against the bookshelf behind her, her face blushing with shy redness, the man’s long arms propped beside her face, his slightly cool voice dropping into her ear.
"So what should you do when you encounter a situation like this in the future?" The tone was almost threatening, yet his gaze was inexplicably gentle, his approach slow and coaxing step by step.
Unable to stand such encroaching proximity, Anan tried hard to suppress her wildly accelerating heartbeat, like a simple and harmless little animal, her delicate eyebrows drooping, obediently conforming, "Find... Dr. Gao."
Gao Chuan listened to the girl’s stuttering answer, the impression of a little fool was undeniable, his lips silently curling, his gaze unconsciously drifting as he gazed down at the girl’s delicate face. Anan, it seemed, didn’t have the kind of look that stunned at first sight, her round little face had distinct features and skin like the first snow in winter. And yet, surprisingly, such a pure face was paired with a pair of bewitching fox-like eyes. Gao Chuan, who had never before looked at a girl so closely, became slightly bewildered for a moment, his eyes faintly losing focus.
In the past thirty years, he had never thought about what kind of woman he would fall in love with, never attempting to define his type. Moreover, his friends always dared not to speculate about him because of his icy demeanor, so when he appeared before everyone with Anan, many were caught off guard. No one would have thought that the profound Dr. Gao would end up marrying Anan, a girl of such innocent and cute type that seemed hardly to match him.
The ambiguous atmosphere continued to ferment, and Anan seemed to notice the man’s halted movements, her eyebrows and eyes relaxed slightly as she glanced up, her pale little face caught in the man’s dark pupils, her cheeks as red as blooming flowers.
Collapse, it all seemed to happen in an instant.
