Chapter 27 - 26: Sharing a Bed Again?
Out of nowhere, hopelessly, I go to love you, have loved you. — Xicheng Tears
The setting sun presses against the mountains, evening hues gently lower, and light red twilight casts a cicada-wing-thin veil over the entire city. Flowers in the autumn scenery sway slightly with Qing Feng, and a tall man with long strides approaches step by step. Seeing this, Grandma lets go of Jiang An’s somewhat chilly hand, smiling, "Alright, you two young ones have a chat, I’ll go have a look in the kitchen." With that, she cheerfully walks out of the garden, leaving Jiang An alone to face Gao Chuan, whom she had always been avoiding.
"Dr. Gao, how come you’re here?" Jiang An asks, her expression awkward as she stands with her hands behind her back, pretending to be ignorant.
Gao Chuan stops two steps away from her, his gaze settling on the trellis next to Jiang An. The tender white blooms are bursting forth with a strong floral fragrance, and the girl in the light-purple dress is smiling sweetly at him.
Under the setting sun, their shadows fall on the ground. Gao Chuan realizes that Jiang An still gets nervous at the sight of him and simply replies, "Grandma asked me to pick you up."
"Have you been enjoying your time at Grandma’s these past few days?" The man’s adam’s apple moves as he asks.
For some reason, the saying "so happy that one forgets to return home" pops into Jiang An’s mind. To others, it seems she’s been away from home for several days, and Dr. Gao has been left with something of a ’lonesome household.’
A laugh escapes Jiang An because of her sudden thought, her bright, sparkling eyes lively and enchanting. Without much thought, she admits, "Yes, I’m happy."
"I really like Grandma," says Jiang An as she gazes at the flower branches she had just pruned with the elderly lady, her lips curving into a crescent moon-like arc.
