Chapter 451 I Surrender
Turning his head to see the woman in his arms looking thoroughly dejected, he couldn’t help but chuckle, "There’s no shame in losing to our son, right?"
"Hmph!"
"There’s still one more day. Maybe you’ll find a new loophole?" Yan Sijue said in a not-so-sincere attempt to comfort her.
Mu Yiliang thought for a moment, grabbing his arm, "Xiaoze found the loophole partly thanks to me, so I didn’t really lose, right?"
Yan Sijue glanced at his son and gave a calm smile, "You can ask our son. If he agrees to give you the credit, I have no objection."
Mu Yiliang immediately looked expectantly at Xiaoze.
Xiaoze turned his head to the side, twitching his mouth slightly—this acting stuff was way too hard.
"See, he doesn’t agree," Yan Sijue looked at her innocently.
"Hmph!" Mu Yiliang stood up angrily, "There’s still one more day, I haven’t lost yet anyway!"
Xiaoze put on a cool demeanor, indicating he was going back to his room. If he stayed any longer, he was afraid he might give the game away, and then he’d have mommy chasing after him...
In the room, Mu Yiliang, puffing with anger, was typing away on the computer, completely ignoring Yan Sijue who had followed her.
"Really mad?" The man chuckled and walked over to hug her from behind, "If you’re unhappy, we can just call off the bet. I don’t mind."
"I’m not that kind of person!" she snorted, hesitated for a moment and said, "I’m not angry with you."
"Hmm?"
"If I can’t even handle something like this, wouldn’t that be pretty useless?" she said with some annoyance, "I wasn’t like this before, but the longer I spend with you, the more I can’t help but worry about keeping up with your pace."
Yan Sijue was slightly taken aback.
"You’re launching the M.Y.L. system the day after tomorrow, right?" Mu Yiliang’s voice was muffled, "I’ve never really asked about your future plans."
The man held her even tighter, his voice somewhat hoarse, "While everyone else sees my success, Yiliang, you know my biggest goal all along has simply been to live well and not get taken down by anyone. As for the future, my only real goal is to live happily together with you. Contrary to what others think, I’ve never been particularly ambitious."
He kept climbing higher, obtaining money and power, just so he could live well and protect the one he loves deeply.
Mu Yiliang suddenly felt her nose tingle. Buried in his arms, she gently said, "I know."
This man had faced too much darkness since he was a child, growing up amidst hatred, defenses, and suspicion, so when he finally had the chance, what he yearned for most was a simple and warm home.
All his other achievements and praise were just the icing on the cake.
Isn’t that the kind of life she has always desired as well?
She suddenly felt very at ease, and all her worries dissipated in an instant. She didn’t need to fear falling behind because she believed he would always hold her hand, even pacing himself to match hers, until the day their hair turned gray.
"Don’t worry, Yiliang," his voice was low yet unusually warm, "You’re important to me, far more than you imagine. You don’t need to worry about anything."
"...Alright, I give up!" She raised her head from his arms, "Now you have the right to ask me to do anything! Rest assured, I’m a good sport! Even if you tell me to commit murder and arson, I’ll do it!"
