THE Knight's Hidden Princess

Chapter 195: The Easy Way

REAGAN POV

The king sat on my seat, his presence looming over us as he stared down at us with a look that made the rest of us feel small which was exactly what he had intended. I had given Ivar to Heather and instructed her to take him to see Ivana, they were not to come out until Sigurd left, I do not want him anywhere near my child. Heather understood and had disappeared as fast as she could, I then decided to handle Sigurd.

It was obvious that he came here for a reason and whatever the reason was I knew it wasn’t going to be to anything good. Sigurd sat on my seat while the rest of us sat opposite each other. Bjorn sat opposite me and Evie sat opposite Nikolai while the rest of my family each took their seat, including Celeste who had chosen to sit right next to me.

There was no denying the unmistakable tension in the air. I could tell how uncomfortable it was to be in the same room with the one man who was known for his ruthlessness. I pities my mother escpecially, she sat so rigid in her seat, her hands clenched tightly in her lap as if she would fall apart if she released them. There was a smile on her face but I knew that smile was a mask to hide how she truly felt on the inside. We all felt the same way, me and my mother both. Miguel and Adrianne were still seated tight, they had no idea what had happened of the horror we had to shield them from and it was going to stay that way. I was always going to protect them.

Sigurd sat still in his seat relishing in the way we all looked, enjoying his small power play. His jeweled fingers gently tapped on the armrest of his seat as he stared down at all of us. Taking in a deep breath, he finally decided to speak. "I am here today to talk about my grandson’s naming ceremony."

My mother’s gaze turned to look at me and it was if she arched a brow up at me, no doubt in an ’I told you so way.’ I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and instead decided to focus on the king who was still talking and now had his gaze on mine.

"It’s been nine months and my grandson is yet to have his ceremony." Sigurd said and I gripped my arm rest a little bit too tight, "He may not be a price, but he does have royal veins in his blood."

Smiling tightly I bowed my head at him, "Apologies my king but it’s just that I’ve been in grieving."

"Grieving?" Sigurd asked as if it was the most preposterous thing to ever be said, "It’s been nine months Reagan, move one, we all have.
