THE Knight's Hidden Princess

Chapter 163: The More The Merrier

The sound of screaming and war cries filled my ears but it sounded muffled even to my own ears, it sounded like I was under the water, suffocating from all the craziness that surrounds me. My eyes slowly blinked open and yet my vision remained blurry as my body weight felt strangely heavy.

The tangy smell of blood, sweat and smoke filled my nostrils. It clung to my skin like oil. My heartbeat drowned out every other battle noise including metal weapons collisions and wounded soldiers screaming and yet through it all, I could hear the sound of people yelling for my name.

Slowly my vision came into focus and I sat up slowly, the blood roaring in my head as I turned around. Though still blurry it didn’t take me that much to figure out that we were losing. Bodies scattered around, most were all women with white clothing stained with crimson. Some were faces I recognized, some I saw in just passing moments or during one of our sessions. Their empty glassy eyes stared at me as they laid in awkward angles that made me throw up a little bit.

"Dahlia, help us!"

The muffled voices of the women calling out to me pierced through the fog of confusion that had surrounded me. I rose up from the ground while my hands shook uncontrollably. The pain in my stomach was still there but it was a dull throb which reminded me that time was running out.

Using the back of my hand, I wiped my mouth until I tasted a little bit of bile mixed with the metallic taste of blood. All around me the fight had changed, the hallway which had once held prayers and meditations reeked of blood. Women laid all over the sacred floor, unmoving, some twitched and some, I couldn’t even stomach some of the horrible sight.

Among the women I saw Freda, a beautiful olive skinned girl who had helped to braid my hair and intertwine them with flowers. Her beautiful face that was always so full of smiles was now stoic with her throat slashed wide open.

No! I looked away from the sight feeling my heart break.

"DAHLIA!"

This time the voice sounded more familiar and I looked up to see Ivana and Heather along with some of the other women being hauled off by some of the draumheimiers. I needed to think fast! I thought as I looked around me.

I sighted a discarded bow and arrow from a fallen sister of the earth and I wasted no time in picking it up. I looked around and sighted a crystal chandelier that was just right above the draumheimiers warriors who were still putting up a fight with women.
