Chapter 82: Stubborn Princess
"My lady, are you sure about this?" Heather asked me.
I stared at myself in the mirror as I nodded my head in agreement. The simple dress reached my ankles and denied any hint of nobility yet it presented me a pragmatic appearance suitable for any practical situation. Although it was unusual to put on such an unadorned outfit I felt strangely at ease wearing it. The simple outfit lacked big jewels and a restrictive corset which allowed me free breathing while absence of detailed embroidery did not burden me down. Just me, as I was.
"For the last time Heather, yes, I am sure!" I answered brushing away invincible lint from my dress, "You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this." I said with a smile.
Heather heaved out a sigh, cocking her hips out as she pointed the hair brush she was holding at me. "I know that, believe me I do but I also know that you could get into a lot of trouble for this!"
My eyes met Heather’s through the mirror, "You really need to learn how to relax Heather, come on it’s fine!"
Heather adamant as ever shook her head stubbornly as she dropped the hair brush she was holding on the vanity. "It’s not about relaxing, my lady. Sire clearly told you he doesn’t want you doing that business, if he finds out there will be consequences."
"He won’t." I assured her before I turned to look at her, "And also, since when do you get to back out of business like this? Few weeks ago, you would have begged me not to listen but now it seems all you want to do is listen to what he says."
Heather cleared her throat as she looked away from me. "Well things have been tense between you two lately, the last thing I want is for you to get into more trouble with him." She mumbled before she glanced back up at me, "Sir Reagan informed you not to do any of the black knight’s business again."
"And I am not." I answered, "I am just a princess going to see what’s going on in her beloved kingdom."
